When I tell people that we have a few vacation rentals in De Pere, Wisconsin, most people ask "Why are people going to De Pere?"
Well, the number one answer usually has something to do with our legendary NFL team, the Green Bay Packers and our sister city, Green Bay, ranked by US News & World Report as the best place to live in the United States for 2023-2024. But, De Pere is a hidden gem of its own that offers visitors a delightful blend of small-town charm and modern amenities. It's unique character makes it a perfect location for rest and relaxation with your family.
Here's what guests have to look forward to:
Historic and Vibrant Downtown
De Pere's historic downtown district is brimming with character and offers a diverse range of shops, boutiques, and restaurants. Take leisurely strolls through the charming streets, explore local art galleries, and savor delicious meals at the unique eateries. The welcoming and friendly local community ensures your family will feel right at home.
A Quaint Riverside Setting
De Pere's scenic location along the Fox River provides a tranquil backdrop for a relaxing getaway. Located only a few blocks from the Fox River Trail, you will enjoy peaceful walks along the riverfront trails, and even partake in water-based activities like kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing.
St. Norbert College
Despite its small size, De Pere offers several cultural attractions. The city is home to the St. Norbert College campus, featuring the breathtaking St. Norbert Abbey and the beautiful campus gardens. The college also hosts cultural events and performances throughout the year, providing you with opportunities for entertainment and cultural enrichment. Knights on the Fox, SNC's annual concert series – voted fifth place for Best Outdoor Concert Series in the 2023 USA TODAY – features live music in a casual atmosphere along the banks of the Fox River, and is free and open to the public.
Mulva Cultural Center
Our newest addition to the De Pere landscape is the Mulva Cultural Center where visitors "are invited to experience a culturally creative and diverse environment for education, enlightenment, contemplation, and enjoyment."
Proximity to Green Bay
I hinted at this already, but De Pere is also conveniently located just a stone's throw away from Green Bay. This means you can easily access the attractions and amenities of a larger city, including Lambeau Field, Titletown District, the National Railroad Museum, Bay Beach Amusement Park, and a wide array of dining and entertainment options. De Pere's location offers the best of both worlds—a peaceful retreat and access to big-city excitement.
De Pere may be a well-kept secret, but it's a secret worth sharing with those looking for a unique and relaxing vacation experience. With its scenic riverfront, historic downtown, and proximity to Green Bay, De Pere offers the perfect combination of tranquility and excitement. Your family will have a memorable stay in one of Wisconsin's most charming cities. So, if you're considering a vacation in the area, look no further than De Pere, and our historic vacation homes, where the magic of a small-town escape awaits.
